My father in law out did himself by dropping these off at my door. There's about $400 worth of equipment which he found at a clearing sale for $45. I love the green tinged glass ones the best. </image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://gippslandunwrapped.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/screenshot-2017-10-04-18-55-21-e1507103899573.png</image:loc><image:title>Sewing machine love</image:title><image:caption>My secondhand sewing machine has become one of my greatest tools for repurposing old stuff around the home but then my machine stopped working and I had to get it repaired. Apparently, it was a very strange affair on the inside, common for cheaper machines, and required a complete disassemble and whole new motor, most people would buy a new machine. </image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://gippslandunwrapped.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/screenshot-2017-10-04-18-55-12-e1507103765947.png</image:loc><image:title>Home repairs</image:title><image:caption>Stitched up this floor mat with jute string, the black board was covered with Texta marks and the chalkboard was thin, so I sanded the wood and repainted the chalkboard with some paint my mother in law had left over from her project. The foam padding on the ironing board had disintegrated and the cover was very old and revolting so I made a new pad with layers of an old flannel sheet and a cover from an old cotton sheet. </image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://gippslandunwrapped.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/screenshot-2017-10-04-18-44-47.png</image:loc><image:title>Dining table and chairs.</image:title><image:caption>I bought our dining table and chairs for our first family home 12years ago and I doubt I will have another. It's made from recycled Blackwood and I love the warmth, character and comfort it gives to each meal. It was a great choice because it is sturdy, bumps and dings are easily disguised, it's timeless in my eyes, and it reflects my values. My family will grow up around this table; that is special to me.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://gippslandunwrapped.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/img_1278-e1507509039493.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Tyre in a reused spray bottle</image:title><image:caption>A reused spray bottle is handy to put the kombucha vinegar in when you are doing a day of cleaning but I advise against storing it in plastic or in any spray bottle. This is because it is alive and can continue to grow SCOBYs and bits that you don't want getting stuck in the spray mechanics. It will block it up and be impossible to get out (speaking from experience). Also kombucha will degrade the plastic and potentially leach undesirable chemicals into the mix.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://gippslandunwrapped.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/img_90531.jpg</image:loc><image:title>IMG_9053[1]</image:title><image:caption>Kombucha vinegar in a reused spray bottle.</image:caption></image:image><lastmod>2025-08-23T11:06:58+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://gippslandunwrapped.com/2017/08/07/garden-tools-buy-less-choose-well-make-it-last/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://gippslandunwrapped.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/img_1028-e1502109447508.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Secateurs</image:title></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://gippslandunwrapped.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/img_0911-e1502109689585.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Weather-proof rake. is our drawer for storing single-sided office paper. Amazingly this drawer never seems to empty. We have not bought office paper for 10years! We haven't even had a printer for at least 4 years. We get virtually no mail and don't take home paper handouts as much as possible. We're good at refusing paper but we still get some. It comes from school notes or from me deconstructing their school work books at the end of the year. It comes from documents from the sale of our house and various child health assessments, etc. So when it arrives we pop anything single sided into this drawer and reuse it for note pads, crafts and drawing paper. Reusing single-sided paper is the most ethical office paper you can use (Next is forest friendly paper). When the paper has been completely spent it gets put in the recycling. I'm still amazed we haven't bought any additional paper in all this time.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://gippslandunwrapped.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/img_0334.jpg</image:loc><image:title>img_0334</image:title><image:caption>Smashing a broken plate and keeping the pieces in a jar for a future mosaic art project.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://gippslandunwrapped.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/img_03361.jpg</image:loc><image:title>img_03361</image:title><image:caption>TechCollect e-waste recycling drop off point at Lardner Transfer Station. It is actually a form of pollution and an offence under the local laws act to place plastic bags in recycling bins. I am aware that neighbouring Cardinia Shire can recycle plastic bags in kerbside recycling, but this is not the case in Gippsland Shires. Please note that there are no soft plastic recycle (REDcycle) bins at supermarkets in Gippsland. To change this, you need to put pressure on your local supermarket. In the meantime, you could post your soft plastics to REDcycle or use their locator to find a store to drop them off at during your travels.
