REVIEW: First impressions of THE VERY GOOD BRA (it’s zero waste). When I opened the package the bra did look great and feel super comfy in my hands. I thought the lack of an underwire would bother me but it hasn’t, and my first impressions were that this was a really comfy bra that fit really well. Yee-ha! Unfortunately, as the day went on and I moved about doing house work, one of my fears came true. My boobs spilled out or ‘bubbled’ over. I’ve had bra fitting done and I’m sure I’m wearing the right size (a 12E) in the right way, it just seems that this cut doesn’t work for me since I finished breast feeding two kids. I have the same problem with other bras with cups shaped this way, but not for different cup shapes that are the same size. Unfortunately, it’s so irritating that I’m not going to wear the bra much, but because I love everything else about it (so far), I would try another style made from the same materials if that were a possibility in the future. . . The MOST sustainable GIFT: Christmas gifts are on the radar for a lot of people at the moment so I thought I'd share a lesson I learned a couple of years ago - there's no point giving someone a "zero waste" gift if they don't want it. And that includes experiences, edible gifts etc. Gifts should be about the person we are giving to, not about us. If we can find a zero waste gift/experience that someone will love, then fabulous, but if you give someone something they don't want, aren't you wasting resources? You see, I tried really hard to ensure I gave zero waste gifts whilst still giving things I thought the children would like. I was way off the mark and the kids were not interested in any of it (and so disappointed that it led them to not believe in Santa anymore). The gifts have stayed in the back of a cupboard untouched for a couple of years – what a waste! Given that we only give a few gifts, I now much prefer to give the kids (and other people) something I know they will treasure whether it’s zero waste, plastic free or not. If it is something they will treasure they will look after it and use it for a long time. It won’t be a waste of resources like my last gifts were, even though they were considered zero waste. Following this experience, I read in a post by Beth Terry (https://myplasticfreelife.com) that she thinks the most sustainable gift you can give someone is something they actually want and I think she is absolutely right - but it's still not a licence to buy loads of stuff. Keeping the 'wants' few is key to feeling enriched. P.S. I chose this picture to quickly convey part of the idea behind this post but it does kind of convey 'spoilt brat' and 'ungratefulness' to me too, which I believe are separate issues to what I've discussed.

Wizard cape from an old curtain! I’ve been meaning to make it for months but it’s taken the kids nagging to join in local Halloween activities to spur me into action. Some of you might recognise this curtain material as leftovers from Santa sacks I made a few years ago. 👌🏻
