Casey Green Living Festival, From Cloth Nappies to Green Funerals

I don’t live in the City of Casey but it’s a neighbouring council and I have a soft spot for the Waste Education and Sustainability teams because they’re great people who are really trying to make a difference. I’ve been part of several of their community and staff events, including the Green Living Festival which is coming up again soon, so I encourage you to go along for a fun, entertaining and informative day out, there’s no entry cost.

The Green Living Festival has actually evolved from a “Cloth Nappy Expo” to having a broader focus with elements for all members of the family. The idea is to raise the profile of sustainable living alternatives and provide people with the opportunity to “touch and feel” a range of products that will result in less waste generation, less energy and water use etc., with the majority being available through local suppliers. It’s hoped that this will encourage more residents to make some changes for better environmental outcomes.

The Sikh community will serve delicious curries for a gold coin donation and a coffee van will be operating on the day selling organic coffee – BYO reusable cup! And don’t forget a reusable drink bottle and shopping bag.
